Cinema Paradiso

Have you ever noticed how people get to their seats the minute they enter the cinema hall?

Jake and I frequent the cinema quite often and we were quite amazed that most patrons that buy their tickets don't really know exactly where their seats are. Some.. they just sit wherever that is empty. Then until someone comes along and claim their seats, then only they look for their right seats.

I've always wonder when they purchase their tickets, don't they bother finding out where their seats are? Is it that hard to look and remember where it is?
If one would, it should be easier for them to find their seats with just a blink of an eye. I guess most cinema patrons don't bother where their seats are; as long they're not at the front or at the side.

Whenever I buy my tickets, no matter through 'e-ticketing' or through 'online booking', I always make sure where my seats will be. It would avoid hassle and inappropriate stares later. I'd say, 'plan ahead'.
Just yesterday, Jake and I went to watch 'Death Race', these two men came in when the movie has already started, and they were spotting for their seats looking for B then D then back to B and then of course it was D... I don't know how they manage to find them but then they were quite annoying as they were reciting the ABC. And then, there were people that walk back and forth of the walkway looking for their designated seats.

Well, there are many other unconventional cinema actions too; such as -
  • people behind you kicking your chair.. they do it in momentum too.. very musically talented
  • people talking loudly trying to explain to the other friend the movie situation - sometimes you'd just wanna shhhhush them and pretend you didn't do it
  • people who takes out their shoes right after they find comfort in their seat.. oh dear smelly soles ruins the whole movie
  • people who put their feet straight upright using the chair in front as feet support
  • couples who does other things besides watching movie + snacking + cuddling - trust me, they should get a room instead but I guess the cinema room is the cheapest out there. There's no need to advertise your PDA, you wanna kiss, you peck; don't french, you wanna cuddle, you do it nicely with hands visible la, etc.
-XXX-

Come on la people, it isn't that hard to show your courtesy. You pay for a ticket to watch a movie, not to suffocate other people, not to give free show, not to have a catch-up session and definitely not to get annoyed. Hello! it's not that you booked the whole cinema for yourself. Let's share... no matter the popcorn nor that pack of chips... after all we came to relax and enjoy a movie.
CHEERS~

"Wall-E" for the Weekend

At last we went and catch the much anticipated movie, "Wall-E"!!! The kids were so excited counting down the days to it's debut especially Joe which annoyed me throughout last week. This is what he said prior till today:

"Wall-E is showing in cinemas on the 14th of August, but we'll only go watch it on the 16th of August which is a Saturday".

Mind you, he repeated the same phrase almost a whole week without failing to remind Judith and Javier too. Well, I guess he was reminding me to remind Jake. Oh I count down too.. I do put the booking schedule reminder on my 'to-do' list in my mobile. It beeps occasionally to boost my memory system.

As usual, we would call Nancy (she's Jake's younger sis) along for movies. Cecilia rarely join us for movies anymore. She's been really busy since winning the title of "Malaysia's Favorite Dancer" in So You Think You Can Dance Malaysia Season 2. I think the last time she joined us for a movie was way back then when she was still a teenager.. haha!

Anyways, I booked online thru' e-payment. That's the only way to secure the seats. I normally do that if we have plan to bring the kids for a movie. That way, we don't have to queue with the kids in tow and we don't want to risk of not getting any tickets at the line which will be quite disappointing to the kids. When you disappoint someone you love, you kinda disappoint yourself too. It's normally contagious.

Before we went for our movie, we walked around Pavilion. We went up the escalator as we were thinking of popping by Times Bookstore when something caught our eyes.

His pants are SO SO WRONG~
I mean someone who is middle-age dressing up like he's going for a ball game.. orange belt and spotty bermudas?? Boing~

So we got the tickets and went to the concessions to get snacks and drinks. I spent about RM28 on it.. I had already had a minor meeting with the kids 2 days before, asking them who they wanna sit with and their cinema menu too. These was the arrangements:

SEATINGS
Joe with Jake
Judith with Nancy
Javier with ME
*Joe had to switch seats with Judith cuz I had forgotten and bought a large Popcorn for Nancy to share with Joe without thinking that they weren't actually sitting together.

MENU
Judith : Smarties + 100plus (but there were no Smarties so she ended up with Cheezels + there weren't any 100plus either so she got a cold MILO without ice instead)
Joe & Javier : Popcorn + Sprite

During the movie, Javier was being a very good boy. He didn't make much of a fuss and didn't want to visit the loo but he did walked up and down the stairs to get to Jake. Judith slept halfway through. She has a habit of doing that, maybe it's really comfortable for her ; the temperature and environment. She seems to doze off just like that even though the movie is good.

The movie "Wall-E" is really an interesting movie. It's about life, live and friendship. It's like telling you, there can be and easy life out there but there will be consequences too. You gotta earn it to live in it. And also there are no friendship barriers between humans and bots as both need to rely on each other just like our races and the different religions we share in our country.

After the movie, we went to have some munch at 'Wong Kok Char Chan Teng'. The deco of this restaurant is much more elegant than the ones at other malls. I didn't notice the restaurant at first until I saw the signboard. I had to double check twice before being assertive. So, we went in and got a table by the window. It drizzled a little and stopped.

I ordered spicy udon...

Jake ordered noodles with sliced meat > SORRY dear, I didn't take any pictures of your food!!! Hehe.. but I took a candid picture of you!!!

Nancy ordered spicy tomyam-ish noodles...

We had HK milk tea which was so milky and sweet... and look how cute they are surrounded by ice chunkies...

Then Nancy, Jake and ME took our mobile out and started snapping away. Visible to the other annoyed patrons of what we were doing, we didn't mind nor care. We were enjoying our weekend just like the way we like it. Then, it started to rain all over again.

Storm ALERT!!!

Mobiles ALERT!!!

KIDS ALERT!!!

We Felt the AWESOMENESS

You can see they felt the awesomeness too!!

The other day we brought the kids to watch the much anticipated 'Kung Fu Panda'..
My sis and Jake's younger sis tagged along cuz' they wanna feel the awesomeness too..
I've booked the tickets earlier via e-ticketing to save time on queuing and to avoid the kids' disappointment in case there weren't any tickets anymore..
We chose to watch at GCS @ Pavilion cuz' the seatings are much more angled...
>better for short people.. kidding.. so the kids can get a better view; instead of rows and rows of heads..

It was freezing out there at the Concessions.
As usual we bought popcorns, drinks, potato chips, etc.. for the kids. A day at the movies' wouldn't be fulfilled without snacks to munch thru' the movie..
After we entered the movie house, it went from cold to warm instantly.. it's so cozy due to the house was awesomely full!! Half of the seats in the house were patronized by kids, the other half were "kids at heart"!!
The movie started off with awesomeness and throughout the story it was great.. very awesome indeed.. thou Po was awesomely fat he still is awesome..
I guess confidence is what you need to be awesome..

Jack Black is PO @ Panda
-was awesome as ever he could be.. double thumbs up for him > he made my kids giggled
??? He is the infamous Nacho Libre.

Dustin Hoffman is SHIFU @ Master
-was kinda lost but he found his way...
??? He was Mr. Magorium.

Angelina Jolie is TIGRESS
-was egoistic in a good way.. but the tigress look more like a tiger to me..
??? Sex Goddess @ Brad Pitt's partner @ Tomb Raider

Jackie Chan as MONKEY
-was quiet.. so quiet that I thought he can't talk.. maybe his character was a shy one.
??? If you don't know who he is, I'm speechless.

Seth Rogen as MANTIS
-was 'kecil-kecil cili padi'... you know what I mean
??? He acted as a nerd in Knocked Up.. upcoming movie > SuperBad

Lucy Liu as VIPER
-was lightning fast and yet so cute with the pink ribbons> vicious
??? She's the Asian kick-butt gal in Charlie's Angels..

David Cross as CRANE
-was a little stuck-up at first but soon, he cooled down
??? He's best remembered as Ian(bad guy) in Alvin & The Chipmunks..

Well, OOGWAY gave a very nice quote in the movie...
Oogway quoted :

But then I found out, the quote was originally quoted by Joan Rivers... AIYAK~ it's still a good quote thou'.. very true indeed.
Oogway means tortoise in Cantonese.. his voice-over was done by Randall Duk Kim..

??? Who is Randall?
??? He's the keymaker in The Matrix and you'll see more of him as Grandpa Gohan in the upcoming Dragonball Movie!

We went through 1 hour and 43 minutes of awesomeness.. credits was awesome too.. even Joe asked why it ended so fast..
Javier didn't even doze off.. nor did he go up and down the steps.. It must have been awesome for him too...
