Elaine's THIR-TY-EARTH Birthday

A week ago was my sister's birthday. There was a mini dinner celebration at home among family members but I failed to attend because hubby, the kids and I went on a mission. Never mind bout that. The mission blog post will come up soon.

So.. early morning at 7.15, something arrived!!!!!

A bouquet of flowers for Miss Elaine... from 'Latuk K' from far far away place starts with the letter 'P'.

And you guys and gals, don't panic... don't be nervous... this was Birthday Girl's reaction when the bouquet flew onto her bed.

...awww.. got teary eyes or not?
So... what does the card she's holding says?

"To My Dearest Elaine, Sorry Couldn't Be There. With All My Love, K....."

She's checking the quantity of lily.. haha

See? She's happy with the flowers

So is Judith!

Even Javier wants a picture with the flowers..

What we got for her?

A tank top from Promod. The most expensive tank top I've ever bought in my 24 years of life.
She loves it because it has butterflies flying around a lady which probably is her!

And.. I made her a butterfly bookmark in just 3 days.

P/S: In case you don't know, she's a butterfly FANATIC!

From Shanghai With Love

About a month ago, sis and I flew to Shanghai for a business trip. We attended the 3 days Paperworld Exhibition. Our flight was in the wee hours and it took roughly 5 hours to touch down at the other side.

-Sunrise-

Our comfy room in City Hotel on Shan Xi Road

Magnificent view from our room
-this is The Heng Shan Moller Villa Hotel > price per night starts from CNY800

Next to the villa lies a beautiful garden.. which was closed for trimming

It was winter time while we were in Shanghai. Temperature was between 14°C-20°C. And it got down to only 9°C on the last day of exhibition. We had to battle the cold even when we're inside the exhibition center.

It was gloomy everyday and it drizzled thoroughly. The roads were pretty congested and a lot of renovations were being done throughout the city for the upcoming Shanghai World Expo 2010 with the theme, "Better City, Better Life".

But when it doesn't pour, when the sky is clear.. NIGHT meets LIGHTS! It's a city of LIGHTS~

Jing'an Temple; 静安寺

When there's business, there's bound to be pleasures... so let's start with business... everyday for 3 days we went through a regime.

1. Wake up at 6.30am.
2. Go down for buffet breakfast.
3. Take bag, coat, jacket, gloves, boots, neck scarf and hat.
4. Walk over to pedestrian bridge to cross the big + road.
5. Walk for another 15mins to the train station.
6. Take train from West Nanjing Rd. 南京西路 (nán jīng xī lù) to Longyang Rd. 龙阳路 (lóng yáng lù). (20mins)
7. Take shuttle bus to the Shanghai New International Expo Center. (10-15mins)
8. AND we are there (9am) safely minus entering the center without pushing hard work. LOL!
9. WORK - EAT - PEE till 5pm
10. Go through number 7., 6., 5., and 4., but in the opposite direction, then we're back at City Hotel.

Elaine is on the bridge we crossed everyday.. everyday we see greens.. perfect to start the day's journey

This is where we battle the cold while waiting for the shuttle bus

Security CHECKED...

Barcode CHECKED...

Before assembling Writebest products.. it was hectic.. we 2 girls were putting on a show.. the MEN gladly watched us while we got to work!

What I really meant was.. no copy-cats!

Dinner with fellow exhibitors by the host at Radisson's revolving restaurant, 'Epicure on 45'.. yup on the 45th floor of the hotel.

Sorry guys.. we were so into the food and to tell you frankly, this hotel rocks so does the food

We dined in a UIGHUR Restaurant..

We had signature bread (CNY18) for lunch! And the bag comes with a raincoat because it was drizzling!

We dined at a Hot Pot Restaurant.. really hot and spicy! PHEW~

Elaine has smokes!

We also slurped on ramen at 'Ajisen Ramen'

On the last day after the exhibition, we decided to take some time off and have fun... we went to Pinnacle Peak in our hotel and got our free cocktails. This is the 2nd cocktail I've taken in 24 years.. LOL!

Bull Riding? I'm afraid NOT! I'm afraid my Implanon might come off!

We savored on the Vertical Pork Bone.. we sucked it all up with a straw.. SERIOUSLY!

'How come there's no juice?'

NYAM NYAM

I miss my BABIES!

We went for 'Tea Tasting'..

On the day we were leaving, the sun was shining and the sky was blue...

And we 'tapau' our favorite UIGHUR, lamb on stick for our journey to Shanghai Pudong International Airport for our flight HOME..

Joe & Nancy's Birthday

Joe's Birthday falls on the 8th of November while Nancy's Birthday falls on the 5th in the same month. Joe had a mini birthday party at Delifrance, Leisure Mall on his bday. A few of his friends came and they had a great time even though time was short.

He was dressed in a tuxedo and shipped to Leisure Mall at 10am. LOL!

My mom made the birthday cupcakes as a gift to him.. there were 40 mini cupcakes in total and each one has its very own sugar craft. Some were decorated with Ben10 edible sheet and some had icing on top. Inside? Almond sugee which is my favourite now.

Below is Joe with his multiple girlfriends... thorn among the roses: L to R: Kimberly, Tanushri and Keshmeta.

Back home... after the party, it's open presents time. He got a set of badminton rackets, a Lego box-set, a portable microscopic tool, 3 stationery sets, an Origami book, a box-set of Making Magic, a make your own Rolling Ball Marble Machine, etc.

Then in the evening, we went for dinner with my inlaws to celebrate both Joe and Nancy's birthday at Crystal Jade, The Gardens Mall. Food is always good here, no doubt. Only the service and utensils are a bit on the down side.

Nancy, the birthday girl savoring the moment

Presenting the glorious food...

Peking Duck...yummy seeing it makes me wanna have some now. Do you?

Spicy tofu with minced meat

Fish Slices

Spicy Eggplant

Sweet & Sour Pork ordered by Joe

Desserts for the sweet tooth... hmm desserts aren't that yummylicious!

Nancy and me fooling around... POKE~ POKE~

Cecilia + Cam-whore = CHORE... haha

Huff & Puff section....

Nancy is checking if it's lit!

I.... wish.... for.... 1)..... 2)..... .3)..... 4).....

Oooo.. another family picture to keep!

We asked a restaurant patron to snap this picture for us.. he used my N95 handphone camera. Just after I heard the CLICK, I heard 'JAPPED'... he dropped my phone! The cover came off, the battery flew out and though my phone is working fine, it looks as if it survived a hurricane.

-Poor phoney! I'm going so change your torn tux.. I'll get you a new suit soon... Just hang on! Right now, some 3M tapes will do.. :p

An EYE for a PET

We've got ourselves a new PET or a new PS3 game which is actually for the kids. It's called EyePet. Hub actually saw a preview of the game online and thought it would be fun for the kids. The EyePet box-set (RM200) consists of the CD itself and a PlayStation Eye (camera) to converse back and forth.

Warming of the egg... keep it warm so it'll hatch

Oooo.. look the little baby is coming out!

And.. say HELLO to 'Pluto'.. and yes it's a monkey that hatches from an egg and meows when it's needing attention.. awkward but that's cute!

Even I got into action... it's so fun! You can caress, feed, bathe, play, etc with the virtual pet.

So... do get one and play.. it's fun.. even the old folks are fond of it. Yup.. they'll say what on earth has technology created? Haha! But they still are interested of what technology does nowadays.

It's Coming To Town!

Look who's coming to town! Nope.. it isn't Santa. Though, he will be arriving soon.. Hehe.. Well, it's SUBWAY. Hub's favourite joint... mine too and the kids too. Yippie! Subway will be opening soon in Leisure Mall. Don't know when but do check it out for me, for you or for fun. TQ! It'll be jammed between the popular Old Town Kopitiam and the unhealthy, full of glucose Big Apple Donuts.

OMG~ OMG~

Thank God it was still early.. not many shoppers around... would I win RM50 if I submit this photo in The Star? Hmm.....
