Great Things Come What May

I guess it’s time to talk about me. I’ve been talking about other things these days. Not that I’m not included in those things :p

Sigh, I’ve not been in cheery moods for the past week. My mind has been wandering elsewhere. What is it I’m pondering these days?

Well, just recently I won a contest worth of RM1000 of cosmetics. My favourite kind of makeup color is brown hues; earthy, nude colors. And most of the time, I get bright color eye shadows and chap sticks which I don’t usually use. I’m a natural color freak. I tried many times using extreme makeup on my face but somehow I end up with the same neutral tone. I need makeup lessons most probably.

So, I won. I quickly called Hub and leaped for joy while talking to him on the phone. I think I was jumping a little and out of breathy saying, “I won something!” Hub is happy and I’m sure he does although I don’t know the look on his face. He knows I win stuff once awhile and me calling him means….he has to send me to collect the stuff. THANKS HUBBY! I shared some with my mom and sis. When I told them I have news for them, they have that worried look. Maybe mom thought I was pregnant? Haha. Nah can’t be that lucky right?

I told them I won something. Sis grabbed the bag of goodies. Saw what was written there. ‘Women’s Weekly Promo Prize RM1000’. She screamed or maybe she yelped not like a dog but maybe a cute pup. Mom was WHOA or was it WAH-WAH. Both were grinning. Oh it was great. I wished I have my camera to snap them but never mind. Dad was asking is it a book? DAD! So him. Mom got the palette and the tinted lip balm. Sis ‘sapu’ the lip gloss with lippy-i-duno-what. That’s not the name of it thou’. I just can’t remember. I saved some for my own too. Bobbi Brown is my favourite. So, you guys out there. Get me Bobbi Brown gifts ya?

My sis asked me why am I so lucky always winning contests. But let me put it properly… not always; once in a blue moon only. I told her, ‘I guess I’m lucky then!’ Haha. Just be optimistic. If it’s not today then it’s tomorrow and if it’s not tomorrow, then there are other days to look forward to.

This is me without the green papers of course. But hopefully.. in a few years time those green papers will surround me.

WOW_100C

I think my family is great. We don’t backstab each other but occasionally we do scratch ones shoulder. We don’t say unnecessary things. We don’t take people for granted. We don’t use our positions at home. We don’t make one’s life harder to get things done our way and of course there’s always the part where my sis gets me to find her stuff which went missing somewhere around the house. And at the end of the day, it was right there in plain sight.

Sorry I can’t share with everyone my gifts but I did shared some in the previous win. This time, I’m thinking about me, myself and I. But yet, I shared again with loved ones. I don’t simply give stuff to people who doesn’t appreciates it or they might not need it (because they have it already) or it might not be suitable for them or better; one can afford it. It breaks my heart when I present my win and it gets wrapped up somehow. How ironic.

Learning to give, learning to share is so great. I think it’s the greatest thing one can do but make sure you plenty then you share. Share what you can; what you may. It’s the one thing that makes me happy to see others happy. I feel the love around when I give. It doesn’t make me a hero but it makes me whole just because I see smiles in return. Just like what I did yesterday at Uptown collecting my prize. You may call me ‘stupid woman’ but whatever. I actually gave away a lippie to the lady security guard who was so friendly and also very preggars. She was soooo happy. Bet it made her day likewise. I told Hubby about it and Hubby wasn’t surprise of what I did. He knows that’s me, that’s his wifey :)

Jaya Jusco @ Just Jammed

My mom and I went Jaya Jusco, Balakong yesterday for the JCard Members' Sale. We arrived at about 8.30am and this was the scene we encountered!

IMG_3433IMG_3434

Look at the terrible jam!!! Before we even reached the junction, we saw cars stuck left and right, up and down. My ‘bulu’ already ‘naik’ before entering JJ.

Please Help Me! I’m so scared. This is my first JCard Day btw.

IMG_3435

Econsave which is situated opposite JJ was so smart. The management was very smart lah not the brand. They closed their gates so JCard customers won’t parked at their lot. DAM!

IMG_3436

He didn't do his duty very well. One man against loads of housewives? Sorry my dear, this will be a tough day for you.

IMG_3439

Mom manoeuvring wisely, avoiding the bizarre crowd

IMG_3437

Mom and I don't understand... why they all so 'kan cheong'?

IMG_3441

Breakfast on SALE! Not free one! Cheh!

IMG_3445

Even going up to carpark takes longer than me having my beauty bath! Whoa look at those smart drivers; using the exit lane to go up. So desperate that they're willing to risk their lives.

IMG_3450

Guess! What are these? Boring while waiting in car. But quite hilarious to watch people running from one end to the other. A minute they were waiting there then the guard pointed out this door won’t be open. Haha. Run yall' run.

IMG_3453

Arrived in one piece.

So.. we found parking. Waited for the crowds to dissolve then we headed down to Old Town Kopitiam for a cuppa'.

IMG_3456

Mom’s white coffee and my white milk tea

and of course.. a visit to the loo is a must while it's still clean and since everyone seems to be attacking the sale.. we’ll just take our time.. hehe

IMG_3455

What's the fuss? Very cheap Nescafe, Milo, Mamy Poko, Cooking Oil, etc.

It was crazee.... so many people, worse than 'pasar pagi', worse than Petaling Street. Hai-yo. I think some were even half awake. Pity those kids who followed mom to shopping. They were sleeping in shopping carts piled with stuff.

And then... there was Happy Hour. Happy Hour is freaky. Once they call out Happy Hour, everyone seems to be in aggressive mode. Whoa like a scene from the end of the world. Handbags were at 80% off, watches RM149 became RM49, bed comforters from RM299 poof to RM69 at Happy Hour. All the 'tai-tais' rushed and grabbed anything they could lay their hands on. ME? Just trying to figure how to get out of the human traffic.

Mom and I didn't buy much things. Lots of people were pushing trolleys of stuff. We didn't even have our hands full. There were just too many people. Changing rooms were occupied with long queues, cashiers were on automatic mode; cursing buttons, swiping cards and security guards were lost at controlling the crowd. I had 'Sticker Shock' too. Prices were so low that I could emit them but they weren't particularly impressive to buy. I'm not the kind who buys on impulse.
Gotta think! Think! Think!

So, we both gone through madness though it was only 3 hours felt like 30 minutes, a whole lot of crowd pressure and with not much purchased, we left JJ. As usual, parking space was limited and many vehicles were going round and round looking for parking space.

IMG_3461

Going through the jam once more. Aggressive drivers are like zombies; they'll pounce on you when you're on your way out, WATCH OUT!

IMG_3464IMG_3465

Bringing more stock? Nope! That was what I thought at first. Only when I saw what they were doing that Oh-Oh me. They were paying people to buy those cheap stuff from JJ. After buying, they'll bring the purchases out, passed to these men here which will put into the lorry/van. Then, they'll redo it over and over again. Most probably to resell later somewhere at a profitable price. When I return in the afternoon to changed something, I noticed WOW it's 3/4 full already.

IMG_3463

Hmm that's more like it. Told ya' one person ain't enough to do the job!

See that stand there? Parking is FULL. So full that people parked at road sides, sides of the highway, and so far back to the factories and walked over. There was even a St. John Ambulance on stand-by in case of panic attacks inside Jaya Jusco. LOL!

IMG_3467

'Ada orang kena saman'. Duno what he did. Maybe he double-parked or just maybe, 'mata-mata' didn't like the way he looked.

At the end of the day, I learned a new kind of shock, I call it the "Kind of Shock". Duno what that means but it's a kind, that's for sure. So long JCard Day. I conclude that the experience was scary. Hopefully the next JCard Day will be extended to 2-3 days to avoid human traffic. I'll be sure to fill in JJ's comment form.

Cheap Yet Good!

Removing makeup before bedtime is very important. Let me stress it some more> VeRy VeRy VeRy important!

whmakeupfea

Residue of makeup during our ZzZz hours will caused breakouts, skin irritations, clogged pores and also ruin the skin’s texture because as you know, our skin needs to breathe. Our skin texture will tend to look dull as if you’re 30 plus but the real you is 18. With all those makeup on, covered tightly and resting in, our skin can’t repair overnight and we’ll have trouble of getting rid of blackheads and whiteheads. Believe me, I’ve gone through all that.

YOU! Out there, you know who you are; called me pimple face and all that blabs. Oh just shush! But thanks to you. Now I’ve got something to look back and here comes a post for me to talk about!

But.. I bet everyone women knows that. Haha! For my nightly cleansing routine, I would double cleanse to make sure my face is makeup free. Especially my eye area, I gotta make sure the eyeliner/eye shadow comes off first. I used to use baby oil to remove them but I don’t like the oiliness effect. After that, I bought Kiehls’ Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. It was one of the best I’ve used.

For my face however, I hate to have clogged pores. I used to have them and they make me go crazy. I would spend time in the bathroom just to remove them. Then, just recently I bought  IMG_3419Johnson’s 3 in 1 Sensitive Skin Facial Cleanser. It certainly was very very good. Plus, it’s mild and hypoallergenic. It’s so gentle that it doesn’t strip any of my skin’s goody. All I have to do is rub it in some water and VOILA, makeup comes off. Even the area around my eyes are cleaned. Easy peasy. After that, I go for a second cleanse, I either use Kiehls’ Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser which gives a minty effect or Clean & Clear’s Daily Pore Cleanser which says bye bye to unwanted blackheads (sometimes I mix them together for a refreshing result).

Al-Amar

Weeks ago, we went for our monthly splurge. We decided to try some Lebanese food. This restaurant is situated on the 6th floor of Pavilion, KL.

The place was very nice with alluring details. Red decorations with dark lightings made the place warm and romantic at the same time.

I must say though, the food wasn’t as yummy as we expected it to be and the service was very poor. Maybe they had a bad day but either way, Al-Amar didn’t leave a good impression on us. I’m not sure if the place is fine-dining or a normal diner. It sure looks as if it’s a fine-dining place but it just wasn’t. Pretty disappointing for the price we paid. The place was empty and only our table was occupied.

IMG_3205IMG_3206IMG_3209

The place was indeed beautiful.. I love the lightings.. Hubby, can we make our future bedroom like this? :p

 IMG_3203

I don’t look too happy aren’t I? Bad service makes me feel this way :(

IMG_3213

We had empty glasses on our table. They don’t serve ‘sky juice’ complimentary. I wonder why they put glasses on tables in the first place if they don’t intend to fill them. Remind me to bring my own water next time if I ever go there again!

IMG_3208

Lemonade was wholly refreshing; only the drinks were awesome and Hubby finished it in one gulp!

IMG_3214

Lebanese Sausages as appetizer.. kinda reminds me of Javier’s ………………..!

IMG_3216

Mutton with spice rice; something similar to nasi beriyani but loaded with Lebanese herbs and spices. Hub gave a 3/10.

IMG_3217

I had the grilled chicken with a few flat-out pita breads served with lemon garlic sauce. Mine was somehow 3/10 too.

Al-Amar gotta improve on the staff’s friendliness. Food wise, I’m not so sure because it was F1 week and they were hands full in preparing a feast for some event. Maybe our table isn’t so important after all.

I gotta say, the restaurant at the opposite, Bosphorus which serves Turkish Food, did leave a better impression on us based on the previous time we went. Service was excellent and food was definitely worth the money.

Joe….

IMG_3334

If you don’t, let me magnify it for you...

IMG_3335 See?

This is what Joe brings home everyday after school. He brings home a pair of black knees with yellow turned black tie and sometimes artsy mural prints on his white crisp shirt plus his very own creation of grey-dyed white shoes.

I always wonder what he does to achieve such highly intense pitch black knees. So.. one day, I caught him giving the canteen floor some scrub treatment. Not really actually, he was playing catching-catching or whatever new games they have nowadays. Hmm I think it’s called, ‘Polis dan Penjahat’.

So, that’s where the black knees came from. Moving on to the tie.. why is it black too! Never found out why but most probably from polishing the tables while he was having his recess. Next.. to the shirt.

Nicely ironed crisp shirt in the morning

    Untitled

Crumpled stencilled shirt in the afternoon

What is the answer?

A. scratched his itchy back at the wall/door/pillar

B. hid behind doors while playing hide and seek

C. played shirt stamping with shoes

I don’t know what the answer is.. but it should be all of the above. For answer A; I thought it myself, B; he told me, and C; because I saw shoe prints on his shirt.

Finally on the shoes. I think that Pallas brand of shoes last longer than Bata brand shoes. I’m talking about the school shoes. Bata Comfit slippers were good and comfy when I was preggars. Bata school shoes only last for 2 months with weekly scrubs and washes but Pallas can last up to 4 months and still going on. I’ll be happy to update on Joe’s shoes later.

White shoes fading grey. Normal for anyone. Joe says he slides on the floor sometimes and then he kicks the wall, rocks, chair, etc and he and his friends play stepping on each others’ shoes. Why oh why. Thank goodness for ‘white powder shoe coating’.

But.. who could ever blame him? I did and still nag him and I know of course it’s Child’s Play. I just don’t want him to catch infection or splinters when he’s doing what he does every single day. So.. today he came into the car with clean knees. I thought that was awkward. I asked him what took him so long and he said,

"Went to the loo."

And he add in,

“Loo was flooded; shoes got wet!”

I, then said,

‘Did you washed your knees?"

Haha '”NOD…NOD” he indeed DID! Gotcha!

*******************

Judith and Javier wanted to take pictures too.. so here they are:

IMG_3337

Judith wants to give her angry expression and I guess she succeed. However, Joe tried so hard but it was comical and I’m not releasing here due to his copyright.

IMG_3339

Javier is showing his angry expression too.. FAILED! He’s cheery half the day and the other half consists of mood swings and cry therapy. He’s pouting now but not for very long. SUSU is his next expression.
