First Day of CNY

On the first day of CNY, we work up late and laze...
Called grams and uncles; set the day ablaze...
Red packets and mandarin oranges all in place...
Such a beautiful day; spend it wisely never go to waste.

Uncle and aunties came for a visit...
We exchanged 'lai si' less than a minute..
Lots to say lots to chat over tea and titbits...
What a wonderful way to catch up with news and gossip.

Brand new clothing, brand new year...
But never forget what's last year that's dear...
Fireworks aplenty and firecrackers my kids fear...
Be careful what you say as neither anyone wants a tear.

Tonnes of stuff to do; tonnes of people to greet...

Some come in peace; some comes in greed...

Start a new year with something sugary sweet...
And live a new year doing good deeds.

Happiness and laughter comes in many things...
Share the joy and moments especially with siblings..
Don the days with sparkles and bling blings..
Go forward and strive; look for happy endings.

One day at a time, one year passes...
Each year goes by, someone needs glasses...
Work harder this year; increase in masses...
